Dist. Minister launches continued works of Ambedkar Bhavan

Mysore/Mysuru: Social Welfare and District In-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa yesterday unveiled the plaque marking the resumption of continued works on the construction of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan on Dewan’s Road in the city, taken up at an estimated cost of Rs. 23.83 crore.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dr. Mahadevappa said, the State Cabinet that had been convened at Male Mahadeshwara Hills (M.M. Hills), had resolved to take up the works, utilising the funds provided under 18 percent grants of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA- renamed as Mysuru Development Authority (MDA)). The works have been taken up in compliance with the Cabinet decision.

Saying that, if one studies the Constitution drafted by Dr.B.R. Ambedkar, the creation of egalitarian society is possible, Dr.Mahadevappa regretted that, however, of late, those with communal mindset are targeting the democracy.

MDA sites allotted

On the occasion, the dependents of army martyrs and the retired soldiers who are suffering from physical disability were given the site allotment letters of MDA.

The beneficiaries are: Subedar Subramani P.B. Naik and K.S. Radhakrishna, Naik Subedar -S.P. Devaraju, Indian Army – Captain M.V. Pranjal, Naik-B.S. Kiran Kumar, Hamaldar – B. Ramesh and CTGD (Constable General Duty) H. Guru.

MLC K. Shivakumar, Urilingi Peddi Mutt Seer Sri Gnanaprakash Swamiji, Vice-chairperson of State Guarantee Implementation Authority Dr. Pushpa Amarnath, District Chairman Arun Kumar, DC G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, MDA Commissioner K.R. Rakshit, Joint Director of Social Welfare Department B. Rangegowda were present.
