Mysuru: The selection process for the district team to represent Mysuru in the upcoming State-Level Chief Minister’s Cup Sports Meet- 2024 (Dasara Sports) began at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in city yesterday.
District Administration, Mysuru Zilla Panchayat and Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES) are jointly conducting the District-Level CM Cup Sports Meet which was inaugurated by Kannada Book Authority Chairman Dr. Manasa.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Manasa urged the people to take up sports in order to lead a fit and healthy life. “Winning and losing are common in sports which should be accepted in sportsman spirit,” he said.
MLA Tanveer Sait, who addressed the gathering, said that while more importance is being given to scoring good marks in recent days, emphasis must also be given to sports which helps one stay physically and mentally fit.
Urging the students not get disheartened on losing, Tanveer Sait called upon them to work hard in order to make a strong comeback to achieve great heights.
Athlete Mamatha administered the oath to fellow athletes. DYES Assistant Director Bhaskar Nayak and other officials were present. About 1,800 athletes from all taluks of the district are taking part in the event and winners in various competitions will represent the district at the State-Level Chief Minister’s Cup – 2024.
