Mysore/Mysuru: Principal District and Sessions Judge M.L. Raghunath inaugurated the District-level sports meet for State Government employees at Chamundi Vihar Stadium here this morning by lighting the lamp. The sports meet is held under the aegis of District Administration, Zilla Panchayat,  Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES) and Mysuru branch of Karnataka State Government Employees Association.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Bagadi Gautham hoisted the flag while In-charge Mayor Sunanda Palanetra received the Kreeda Jyoti (sports torch) from a teacher-athlete Saroja.

About 500 sportspersons are vying for honours over the next two days in their favourite sports which include Hockey, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Athletics, Wrestling, Powerlifting and Cricket. The sports meet will end tomorrow. Cultural programmes will be held in the evening.
