District-level State Government Employees Sports Meet held

The two-day District-level State Government Employees Sports Meet, jointly organised by the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat (ZP) and the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES), was held successfully at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in Nazarbad here recently. Hundreds of State Government employees took part in both individual and team events and won various prizes.

Team events

Kabaddi: The team comprising employees of various Departments won the first place while the Health Department team bagged the second place.

Throwball: Health Department (K.R. Circle) bagged the first place while the Education Department team bagged the second place.

Women’s Division

K.R. Hospital Nursing Officer B. Vasanthi won gold in long jump, silver in 100 mts and 200 mts race, bronze in 4×400 mts relay and 4×100 mts relay and three medals in Yoga.

Government Nursing College Principal Pushpalatha bagged three medals in Yoga, bronze in 100 mts and 200 mts race, silver in Kabaddi and Artistic Yoga.

Bannimantap Government Higher Primary School teacher Gunavathi bagged gold medals in 100 mts race, 4×400 mts relay and 4×100 mts relay, silver in Kabaddi, Long Jump and Artistic Yoga.

100 mts race: Mangala, Sushma and Nirmala; 400 mts race: Uma, Radha and Sushma; 800 mts race: Uma, Mangala and Kavitha; Long Jump: Shashikala, Puneetha and Yashasvi Rai; High Jump: Jalajakshi and Puneetha; Shot Put: Pooja, Jalajakshi and Girija bagged the first, second and third places respectively.

Men’s Division

T. Narasipur’s  Agasthyapura Government Lower Primary School Teacher R. Javaranayaka bagged gold in 50 mts breast stroke, butterfly stroke and 4×100 mts relay in swimming.

100 mts race: Mithun Gowda, H.L. Chandrashekar and Pampapathi; 200 mts race: H.L. Chandrashekar, Jagadish and Pampapathi; 400 mts race: Pampapathi, Santosh and Dinesh; 800 mts race: Mahendra, Narendra and Mariswamy; Long Jump: Manju, Nayan and Sridhar; High Jump: Revanasidda, Sridhar and Aslam; Shot Put: Devaraja, Bharath and Venugopal, bagged the first, second and third places respectively.

Medals were presented to the winners by MLC Dr. D. Thimmaiah and MLA T.S. Srivatsa.

Speaking on the occasion, State Government Employees Association District President J. Govindaraju said that the two-day sports meet which saw the participation of over 2,000 State Government employees was a success. He called upon the winners to participate in the State-level Sports Meet and bring laurels to Mysuru district.

DYES Assistant Director Bhaskar Nayak and Government Employees Association District Office-bearers were present.
