District-level Yuvajanotsava in Mysuru on Dec. 4

Mysuru: The Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES), in association with District Administration, Zilla Panchayat (ZP), Nehru Yuva Kendra, National Service Scheme (NSS), University of Mysore (UoM), Maharani’s Science College for Women, Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST), will be organising a one-day District-level Yuvajanotsava – 2024 at Chamundi Vihar Stadium here on Dec. 4 from 9 am onwards.

Announcing this to media persons here yesterday, DYES Assistant Director Bhaskar Nayak said that the competitions will be held in 11 categories including Folk Dance (Group), Folk Dance (Individual), Folk Song (Group), Folk Song (Individual), Poetry Writing (not exceeding 1,000 words), Story Writing (not exceeding 1000 words), Painting (A3 size – 11.7 inches x 16.5 inches), Declamation Writing (Hindi and English language to take part in National-level Yuvajantosava; Kannada to take part in State-level Yuvajanotsava, 3 mins), Handicrafts (for artisans to contest in Yuva Kirthi), Textile and Agro Products.

Those taking part must be within the age group of 15-29 years as on Jan. 1, 2025 and must produce age proof at the time of registration. Winners in District-level will be representing in the State-level Yuvajanotsava.

The winners in the competitions to be held on Dec. 4 will be awarded with cash prizes, certificates and mementoes.

Bhaskar Nayak also mentioned that the Department was expecting about 1,000 participants and added that a total of 87 Colleges and 27 Schools in the district had been requested to send their students for the competitions.

He said that last year’s competition had witnessed a total of 456 students in District-                         level  Yuvajanotsava.

Science Exhibition

DYES will also be organising a Science Exhibition for students on Dec. 4 at Chamundi Vihar Stadium.

The competition will be held in individual and team categories. Those taking part must showcase live models under the theme ‘Innovation in Science and Technology.’ A maximum 10 members are allowed in a team.

Nehru Yuva Kendra District Youth Officer Abhishek Savare and University of Mysore NSS Programme Co-ordinator M.B. Suresh were present.
