Mysuru: District in-Charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa distributed laptop computers to 922 SC/ST students of Maharani’s College of Arts, Science and Commerce-Management under the SCPTSP scheme of the Government at a function organised by the Department of Collegiate Education at the premises of Maharani’s Arts College on JLB Road here yesterday.
The laptops were received by 721 SC and 201 ST students of all the three wings of the college.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mahadevappa said that science and technology had developed immensely now.
He contended that computer had become an integral part of education to elicit information quickly from internet.
He opined that education was vital for women to face challenges in life.
Yesterday being the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the District Minister offered floral tributes to a portrait of Netaji at the College.
MLA Vasu presided. Maharani’s Arts College Principal Dr. M. Channabasavegowda, Commerce College Principal Dr. Annegowda, Science College Principal H. Uday Shankar, Joint Director of Collegiate Education J. Poornachandra Tejaswi, MLC R. Darmasena and others were present.
