District Registrar and Sub-Registrar offices reopen for online transactions

June 8, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: The State Government has permitted the District Registrar and Sub-Registrar Offices to function from yesterday while strictly adhering to COVID appropriate behaviour.

Even as all the five Sub-Registrar Offices in the city resumed work yesterday, probably due to lockdown and being the first day of reopening, poor response from public was seen at all these offices. According to an order issued on Sunday, all these Sub-Registrar Offices have now been directed to function while “strictly adhering to COVID appropriate behaviour.”

As per the notification issued by the State Government, no cash transactions are allowed in Sub-Registrar Offices for the time being. Only digital payments and bank transfers are allowed for fee payment and other such money transactions in all these offices.

However, those who were present at these offices could not get OTP number due to some technical glitches in the online system yesterday. Today, according to reports, all these issues have been resolved.

Property registrations and others activities have begun this morning in all the five Sub-Registrar Offices in the city as well as at eight other offices in the district.

When the Government imposed semi-lockdown in the State on May 10, as a precautionary measure, it had also shut down all District Registrar and Sub-Registrar Offices till May 23.

It had taken this drastic step following reports of crowding of people at Sub-Registrar Offices for registration of properties without following COVID appropriate behaviour such as wearing mask and maintaining social distance.

The State is still under lockdown as the number of active infection cases are still considerably high in several districts.
