Mysuru: G.M. Sudeep from Marimallappa High School in city has emerged as the topper in Mysuru district by securing 623 out of 625 in the SSLC results that were declared yesterday.

Along with Sudeep, M. Pavana and R. Prajna of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School and K. Sneha of CKC Convent have scored 622, L. Ritesh of Marimallappa High School, B.S. Inchara and R. Aditi of Sadvidya High School scored 621 and G. Ajith Kumar and Varun Kumar of Sadvidya have scored 620.

Sudeep secured 100 each in Mathematics, Science, Social Science and Hindi, he lost one mark each in Kannada (124) and English (99). Speaking to Star of Mysore, Sudeep said he used to study for three hours a day and was expecting good results. Sudeep hails from Gundlupet in Chamarajanagar and is residing in Jayanagar in Mysuru.

He is the son of G.B. Mahesh, an economics lecturer at the Hamuchavadi Government PU College in Chamarajanagar and Mahadevamma, a private school teacher. “As my parents are teachers, there was a good atmosphere at home to pursue studies with adequate guidance. He also attributed his achievement to the competitive atmosphere at his school.

“I joined Marimallappa in ninth standard and the advantage there was that I faced stiff competition that motivated me to study.  A series of preparatory examinations coupled with guidance from my teachers helped me,” he said.

Sudeep said that on an average, he never studied for more than three hours a day. “I played cricket, and watched television in my free time. I was not afraid as there was no pressure on me. I prepared for the exam at ease. My school, teachers and parents motivated and guided me well,” he said and added that he wants to become a doctor.

 

Farmer’s daughter excels

Sadvidya’s Inchara scored 621 marks with 100 each in Mathematics and Science. She is the daughter of Shivalingegowda, a farmer from Bannur. Though she had to commute daily between Bannur and Mysuru for school and her father had to deal with serious health problems and financial crisis, she did not compromise in studies and scored well. Inchara wants to become a doctor.

Dancer scores well

Dancer L. Ritesh, who scored 621, is a student of Marimallappa High School. He has won medals at many national-level dance competitions. His father is Lakshman Naika, a supervisor at Manasagangothri. His mother is Shobha. Ritesh managed to study hard despite being busy in dance rehearsals. He wants to pursue science in PU and later join Indian Institute of Technology. Ritesh is good at free style and hip-hop dance forms.

Kannada medium no hurdle

H.S. Darshan, a student of Sadvidya High School (Kannada medium), has created history in the school by scoring 600 marks. He wrote the exams in Kannada. Darshan said that he never hesitated to tell that his medium of learning was Kannada. He is the son of Suresh, a construction worker. He said that his father could not afford to get him admitted to an English medium school.

“I am proud that I have scored well in Kannada medium. My mother is a garment worker and I want to be an engineer so that I can take care of my parents,” he added.
