New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Sunday said that contributions of the differently-abled or the ‘Divyangs’ to the development of society are immense. The Speaker made the remark, after distributing assistive devices to differently-abled and senior citizens in Rajasthan’s Lakheri.

“Divyangs have enhanced   the country’s value in Paralympic Games. They have made the country proud in the fields of business, industry and science,” he said.

Speaking on the role of social workers, Birla said it was the responsibility of social workers to work with human touch in the society, and go from village to village and identify such people. They have to contribute in bringing about socio-economic change. “We have to work with dedication to remove the obstacles on the path of every section of the society,” he said.
