Do led lights pose threat to bird community?

Sir,

With the intention of low power consumption, more brightness and keeping low cost and durability, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has started installing LED street-lights in various localities of the city.

Yes, this looks very good, elegant and bright. But certain environmentalists have raised questions that these LED bulbs may not attract the flies which normally used to come surround the fluorescent tubes earlier.

These flies used to serve as food to various birds and with the installation of LED lights, there may not be any more flies, and the birds which used to depend on these flies may starve and over a period of time may also get extinct.

One should remember here that the sparrow community too had the same threat when the mobile towers were installed.

It is high time that some environmentalists or ornithologists clarify on this, so that under the guise of beautification of the city, we should not pose threat to the bird community.
