Do not use goods vehicles for campaigns: Observer

Mysore/Mysuru: Harshdeep Singh, General Observer of Chamundeshwari Assembly Constituency, has warned of action under the Indian Motor Vehicle Act if Light Motor Vehicles (LMV) intended for the transportation of goods are used for election canvassing and rallies.

Addressing a meeting related to the second stage of randomisation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) for Chamundeshwari Constituency in preparation for the elections, Singh stated that there are a total of 337 polling stations in the Constituency with 405 Ballot Units (BU), 405 Control Units (CU), and 439 VVPATs available.

Assistant Commissioner Kamalabai added that a total of 242 senior citizens and specially-abled voters aged above 80 have been identified to vote through the Vote from Home option. Adequate teams have been formed to ensure the maintenance of secrecy during voting, she added.

Moreover, 82 service voters under the Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) have received their ballots dispatched to their respective offices online.
