Doctors interact on cancer

Book ‘Who Defeated Death’ released

Mysuru/Mysore: Marking ‘World Cancer Day,’ Suyog Hospital and Sanjeevini Cancer Care Trust had organised an interaction on cancer by doctors at Kalamandira here this morning. Inaugurating the programme, theatre artiste Mandya Ramesh asked people to shun negative thoughts and added that a positive approach can solve may problems. He regretted that cell phone usage had reached a limit and spreading like cancer which should also be arrested.

Writer Maleyuru Guruswamy released a book ‘Who Defeated Death’, an English translation done by journalist M.N. Lokesh. 

Guruswamy recalled that Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar built the PKTB Sanatorium during yesteryears in memory of Wadiyar’s sister Krishnarajammanni who had succumbed to Tuberculosis (TB) those days. He said that TB was a dreaded fatal disease then, now replaced by cancer.

Suyog Hospital Head Dr. S.P. Yoganna presided. Sanjeevini Cancer Care Trust President Ramesh Bilikere, Mayor Tasneem, Journalists Amshi Prasanna Kumar, M.N. Lokesh and others were present.

Earlier, NCC cadets and students took out an awareness walkathon from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple to Kalamandira.
