Dowry harassment: BSF soldier sentenced to two years jail

October 15, 2019

Mysuru: City’s Additional CJ and JMFC Court has sentenced a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier to two years and has also imposed fine in a dowry harassment case.

The person who was sentenced to jail is Shivananjappa, a resident of Lakkikuppe village in K.R. Nagar taluk.

Shivananjappa’s wife Varalakshmi had filed a dowry harassment complaint with K.R. Police following which the Police had filed a case against Shivananjappa and had submitted the charge-sheet to the Court.

Judge Gayatri, who heard the arguments from both the sides, found Shivananjappa guilty of the crime and sentenced him to two years jail and a fine of Rs. 3,000 and six months imprisonment under IPC Section 498 (A) and Rs. 500 fine under IPC Section 509.

Assistant Public Prosecutor Archana Prasad argued for the Government.
