Mysuru: University of Mysore Vice- Chancellor Prof .G. Hemantha Kumar said that the State Government has sanctioned funds to set up Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Museum in the premises of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Research and Extension Centre at Manasagangothri Campus in city.
He was speaking after inaugurating the photography exhibition on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and special lecture programme organised as part of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Parinirvan Diwas at Dr B.R. Ambedkar Research and Extension Centre on Hunsur Road in city on Dec.6.
The University of Mysore has made all necessary preparations to establish the museum to spread the message on the life, struggle and achievements of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. A blue print has been prepared in this regard. The State Government had released Rs. 1 crore to set up the same and works will be taken up very soon, he said.
Prof. Hemantha Kumar also said that the establishment of this museum would also help the research scholars to study about the contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to the society and the country.
Writer and Progressive Thinker, Mangaluru Vijaya also spoke. Co-ordinator of the Research Centre S. Narendrakumar presided. Headmaster of Paduvarahalli Government High School T.J. Anand, Goutham Foundation’s Shivalingaiah and others were present.
Earlier, the exhibition of rare photographs on the life and achievements of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar attracted large number of visitors.
Rare photos of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s visit to Birla House after the death of Mahatma Gandhi, installation of Buddha idol at Buddha Vihar on Dehu Road in Pune in 1954, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s participation at the discussion on Poona Pact in front of Yerwada Central Jail in Pune, fortnightly Newspapers like ‘Mooknayak’ and ‘Bahishkrut Bharat ’ brought out by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, hand writings of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, other rare photographs were on display.
Goutham Foundation’s Shivalingaiah had provided several rare photographs of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
