Mysuru: Dr. Basappa, MD (Medicine), Retired Professor and HoD of Medicine at Mysore Medical College and JSS Medical College and  former Superintendent of PKTB Sanatorium, Mysuru, passed away in city on Jan. 14 following brief illness.

Dr. Basappa, a dedicated doctor and teacher, was 88.

A resident of Kuvempunagar, he leaves behind his wife Suvarna Basappa, two sons — Dr. Srisha Basappa, a Dentist and Dr. Harsha Basappa, Professor of Cardiology at Jayadeva Hospital, Mysuru — daughter-in-law Dr. Sangeeta, a Paediatrician and a host of relatives, friends and family members.

Last rites took place at Harohalli village in Mysuru Taluk on Jan. 15, according to family sources.
