Mysore/Mysuru: The first ever Kannada Literary Meet of Chamaraja Assembly Constituency is being organised in the city and former VC of Kuvempu University, Shivamogga Dr. K. Chidananda Gowda, who has been selected as the Chairman of the Meet, was extended a formal invitation by Mysuru District Kannada Sahitya Parishat on Saturday.
Office-bearers of Kannada Sahitya Parishat led by Chamaraja MLA K. Harish Gowda invited Chidananda Gowda along with his wife Tarini, at Udayaravi residence of Poet Laureate Kuvempu on 12th cross, fifth main, VV Puram in city.
Chidananda Gowda said “Of late, many outsiders are interfering in the matters related to Kannada. In this wake, it is commendable on the part of the organisers to host such literary meets at Constituency level, apart from the city. If taken into count, the latest developments, the influence of other languages is more in the urban areas, making it inevitable to create awareness on Kannada.”
Kannada Sahitya Parishat City President K.S. Shivaramu said “The initiative taken up by the State Government towards the implementation of Kannada in administration has been appreciated by all. To successfully implement the initiative, awareness among locals in Kannada is a must. In this wake, Constituency-wise Kannada Literary Meet is being organised.”
MLA K. Harish Gowda said “We should organise the first ever Kannada literary meet of Chamaraja Constituency on a grand scale. It is a matter of pride that Kuvempu’s son-in-law Chidananda Gowda has been selected to chair the meet. He has contributed enormously for the cause of Kannada and this meet will play a key-role in creating awareness about Kannada language in urban areas.”
Mysuru District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere M. Gopal, past Presidents M. Chandrashekar and Y.D. Rajanna, Vice-President T. Thyagaraj, Organising Secretary M.N. Lokesh, leaders Ravinandan, Prakash and others were present.
