Mysuru: Dr. M.A. Saleem, Director General of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Economic Offences and Special Units, Karnataka, has been appointed as the acting Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP) of the State. He will officially assume charge this evening.
Dr. Saleem is expected to be confirmed as the full-time DGP after two months. An accomplished IPS officer of the 1993 batch, Dr. Saleem has served in 26 key positions across Karnataka, demonstrating both versatility and leadership.
He has held roles ranging from Superintendent of Police in Udupi and Hassan to Inspector General of Police, Eastern Range. He also served as Commissioner of Police, Mysuru City and later as Special Commissioner of Police in Bengaluru. Dr. Saleem has led several crucial divisions of the Karnataka State Police, including the Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Crime and Administration wings. As the DGP of CID, he oversaw investigations into some of the State’s most important and high-profile cases.
