Dr. Parvathamma, Srikanta Gundappa remembered

July 23, 2017

Mysuru: Society will always remember those who through their speech and action develop their own character and through their achievements evolve into greater human beings, said littérateur Jayappa Honnali.

He was speaking after offering floral tributes to the portraits of Dr. Parvathamma Rajkumar and theatre artiste Srikanta Gundappa at ‘Abhimanigala Namana,’ a musical programme organised by Dr. Rajkumar Musical Group and Dr. Rajkumar Fans Association, at Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road here on Friday.

Senior theatre artiste Gundappa had very human qualities and was always very active thinking that he should contribute to the growth of the theatre. He was encouraging young artistes and was nurturing them to grow as talented theatre artists, Honnali said.

Speaking about Dr. Parvathamma Rajkumar, he said, she stood behind Rajkumar like a mother and was responsible to create a great-unparalleled force in the Kannada film industry. She not only nurtured her family but was also responsible for many young talents. Due to her selfless service, many have become big stars today, he recalled.

Dr. Lakshminarayan, speaking earlier, said that many people’s life is like camphor which spreads light and fragrance. Only highly-evolved beings will achieve something in the society and encourage others and to this line belonged theatre artiste Srikant Gundappa.

Littérateur Mangala Sathyan and Dr. Parvathamma’s brother Srinivas also spoke. Sri Ilai Alwar Swamiji graced the occasion.

Singers Jayaram, Revanna, Ramachandra, Srikant Rao, Shashi, Sharadamma, Divya Yadav, Priya, Rajeshwari and a few others sang songs. Mike Chandru compered the programme.
