Dr.  Shivakumara Swamiji Ratha to traverse across district from Mar. 9

As part of the 110th birthday celebration of Tumakuru Siddaganga Mutt Seer Dr. Shivakumara Swamiji, the ‘Ratha Yatra,’ which is travelling across the State, will traverse in the district for 3 days from Mar. 9 to 11, according to Ratha Yatra Convenor Kanya Shivamurthy, who spoke at the preliminary meeting at Supreme  Convent premises in Sharadadevinagar here on Saturday.

The Ratha Yatra, which starts from Periyapatna on the morning of Mar. 9, will traverse through Kampalapura, Panchavalli, Hanagodu, H.D. Kote, Annur, Hosahalli, Hunsur, Gavadagere Mutt, K.R. Nagar, Bilikere, Eerappanakoppalu, Yelwal, Hinkal and Vijayanagar in Mysuru, before halting at Sharadadevinagar.

The next day, on Mar. 10, Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, Seers of various  Mutts, Legislators and  Veerashaiva Community leaders will accord a Poornakumbha welcome to the Ratha Yatra at Sharadadevinagar Circle at 7 am, following which saplings will be planted at Dr. Shivakumara Swamiji Circle in Kuvempunagar.

The Ratha Yatra will then pass through Vivekananda Circle, Shiva Temple in  Aravindanagar, Srirampura, Talur Circle, Talur, Sindhuvalli, Byathalli before reaching 101 Ganapathy Temple at Agrahara in city.

The Yatra will continue its journey traversing through Basaveshwara statue, Ramanuja Road and Kamsale Mahadevaiah Circle before reaching Suttur Mutt later in the evening. Thereafter, a stage programme will be held in which Ministers Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa and Tanveer Sait, MP Pratap Simha, MLAs G.T. Devegowda, Vasu and M.K. Somashekar and other leaders will take part.

On Mar. 11, the Ratha Yatra will leave Suttur Mutt on the morning and travel through Gowrishankar Nagar, Chamundipuram, Vidyaranyapuram, J.P. Nagar, Gejjegalli, Siddarthanagar, JSS Nagar and Alanahalli before leaving the city.

The Yatra, continuing its journey, passes through Bannahallihundi, Gejjaganahalli, Kahalli, Biligere, Suttur, Kupparadalli and Nagarle to reach Nanjangud from where it will leave to Gundlupet via Begur the following day.
