Mysuru: Marking the 10th death anniversary of actor Vishnuvardhan, a solemn programme was organised by Vishnu fans at the proposed site for Vishnu Memorial near Halalu on Mysuru-H.D. Kote Road yesterday.
The late actor’s wife Bharathi Vishnuvardhan offered puja to a portrait of Vishnu. She also launched a blood donation camp and a health check-up camp.
Speaking on the occasion, Bharathi observed that Vishnu’s fans were still very fond of the late actor. She contended that Vishnu Memorial would be constructed soon as all the bottlenecks have been cleared.
She added that Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa had assured of all assistance for the construction of the Memorial.
Senior actor Hema Chaudhary, recalling her screen-sharing association with Vishnu, bemoaned that 10 years was too long a period to get a Memorial constructed in memory of the actor.
Vishnu’s daughter Keerthi, son-in-law Anirudh and Vishnu’s fans also offered puja to the portrait of the actor.
Bharathi visits hotel room
Bharathi later visited Room No.335 at Kings Kourt Hotel on JLB Road here and went tearfully nostalgic recalling the day when Vishnu breathed his last in that room.
Vishnu and his family members used to stay in Room No.334 and 335 at the said hotel during their visit to Mysuru.
Bharathi suggested the Hotel Management to hang a portrait of Vishnu in the room which was accepted.
Recalling that day, the emotional Bharathi said: “I feel Vishnu has brought me back to this room now. That day Vishnu who was sleeping suddenly got up and expressed severe discomfort and I telephoned the doctor immediately. I gave him Theertha (holy water) also. It seemed he was ready to leave all of us rather selfishly. However, he is still immortal in the hearts of the fans.”
