Driver injured as huge branch falls on jeep

Mawali:  A man, who was behind the wheels of a jeep, was seriously injured when a huge branch of a tree fell on the vehicle on H.D. Kote-Manandavadi Road near Maddur gate in Nagarahole Reserve Forest limits last evening.

The injured person has been identified as 35-year-old Nissar alias Nasir, a resident of Kalpete in Kerala. Nissar, at about 4.10 pm yesterday, was proceeding to his native via H.D. Kote and Antharasanthe in his jeep (KL-11 B-7821) and joined Manandavadi Road which passes through Nagarahole Reserve Forest.

When he came near Maddur Gate, a huge branch of a tree came crashing down on his vehicle, resulting in Nissar suffering serious head injuries. Other motorists, who saw the incident, were reluctant to help the injured as the incident took place in the Forest and immediately informed the Forest Department staff.

Nissar’s parents and relatives, who reached H.D. Kote in the evening, shifted the injured Nissar to a private hospital in Mysuru for advanced treatment.

H.D. Kote Police, based on the information provided by the Forest Department officials, have registered a case in  this regard.
