Mysore/Mysuru: The compensation cheques for Rs. 2 lakh from Chief Minister Relief Fund, were given to the parents of each of four deceased students of Hajira Rizwan (Arabic School) Madrassa at Udayagiri in the city, at Zilla Panchayat meeting hall in the city yesterday.
Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait and KPCC Spokesperson M. Lakshmana, handed over the cheques, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, Tahsildar K.M. Mahesh Kumar and others.
Four students Ayesha, Ummehani, Jania Parveen and Afreen, had allegedly drowned at a canal near Sri Cauvery Boredevara Temple, located on the outskirts of Mandyada koppalu village in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district, when they had gone on a tour in November 2025.
Following the recommendation of MLA Sait and KPCC Spokesperson Lakshmana, to announce maximum compensation from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, to the parents of deceased students, on humanitarian grounds, Rs. 2 lakh relief was announced totalling Rs. 8 lakh for four students.
