DSS demands direct recruitment of Dalit graduates, stages demo

February 15, 2018

Mysuru: Demanding direct recruitment of meritorious Dalit graduates for Group ‘A’ and ‘B’ posts in the State Government, Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (DSS) staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office here yesterday.

Maintaining that the direct recruitment of PG rank students from Dalit communities came into effect from 1985, the protesters said that under this special recruitment system, talented Dalit graduates used to join Government service once in four years. But this special system was abruptly stopped in 2002 under the pretext that there were no vacant posts. The Government’s move has rendered injustice to rank holder Dalit students, the protesters claimed and urged the Government to re-introduce the system in the better interests of talented Dalit students.

DSS office-bearers Choranahalli Shivanna, K.V. Devendra, Devaraj T. Katur, Santosh Talur and others led the protest.
