Madikeri: As per the directions of the Supreme Court, the CBI has begun its investigation into the suicide of Dy.SP M.K. Ganapathy.

A five member CBI team comprising SP and Dy.SP from CBI, Chennai is gathering information through spot visits.

The team visited the JMFC Court on Thursday and applied for a copy of the ‘B’ report submitted by the CID to the JMFC Court.

The CID had given clean chit to Minister K.J. George and two senior IPS officers Pronab Mohanty and A.M. Prasad, whom Dy.SP M.K. Ganapathy had accused of harassing him.

The team recorded the statement of Ganapathy’s father M.K. Kushalappa, mother Jaji Poovamma and brother M.K. Machaiah at their residence in  Rangasamudra near Kushalnagar.

The family members were informed that the team may visit again to gather more information after procuring some more documents.

The team also interrogated the staff of the lodge in Madikeri where Ganapathy committed suicide by hanging self in a room on July 7, 2016.

The local Police and the personnel of the local TV channel which aired. Ganapathy’s interview are yet to be questioned. The CBI team has been working independently without the help of the local Police.

The team will visit Mangaluru on Friday to record the statement of Ganapathy’s wife K.K. Pavana and son Nehal, it is learnt.

The FIR filed by the CBI has named Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George (former Home Minister) as the first accused and IPS Officer Pronab Mohanty and A.M. Prasad as the second and third accused respectively.
