Dy.SP M.K. Ganapathy suicide case: K.J. George need not resign, says CM

October 28, 2017

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah yesterday rejected the BJP’s demand for the resignation of Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George in the backdrop of CBI registering an FIR against the Minister in connection with the alleged suicide of Dy.SP M.K.Ganapathy.

Hitting back at the BJP, Siddharamaiah accused it of misusing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for political gains.

Asserting that there was no need for George to resign as he was re-inducted into the Ministry  after the CID filed a ‘B’ report cleaning the charges against him, he questioned the significance of the FIR registered by the CBI as it is the same as the one registered at Kushalnagar Police Station.

Rejecting the BJP’s argument that George should resign again as he could influence the investigation and tamper with evidence, Siddharamaiah maintained that George is no more the Home Minister of the State and questioned the BJP leaders how George could influence the CBI which is under the BJP-led Union Government.

With the Assembly polls nearing, the BJP wants to take political mileage by tarnishing the image of State Government and George, he alleged.

Our Chief Minister is right in his arguement that George need not resign. First of all, I see the influence of state BJP party making the Central BJP Govt to influence the CBI (now its under Mr. Modi!) to take up charges against a Congress party politician and a minister. I don’t understand the logic of state BJP party in asking resignation of a minority minister, whereas, they did not demand the resignation of DK Shivakumar when CBI raided his residence and office and found lot of wealth. Moreover, there are many ministers who have criminal cases against them in the Central Govt. such as Uma Bharati who was charged for Babri Masjid demolition along with Mr. Advani, Joshi and others.
In our state itself, Mr. Yeddy has many cases pending in High Court and Supreme Court, but BJP has made him the party President and future CM, if BJP wins, which looks feeble.
So, let the CBI carry on with is investigation and if found guilty, then George can’t escape the clutches of the law. The Court of hiven 3 months only to submit the report.
