The Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES) has issued an order hiking the monthly honorarium of wrestling athletes by Rs. 1,000. According to the order, wrestlers above 50 years of age facing economic hardships are eligible for the honorarium.

State-level wrestlers, who received an honorarium of Rs. 2,500 will now get Rs. 3,500, national-level athletes will get Rs. 4,000 (from Rs. 3,000 previously) and those who participated at the international level will get Rs. 5,000 (from Rs. 4,000 previously). The hike in honorarium was one of the Budget announcements made by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
