The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has invited property owners to submit applications for issuance of e-khata for their properties. One of the aims of this exercise is to sieve away fake properties having been registered by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) or MCC Offices.

I recollect that in 2009, the Revenue Department of the Government of Karnataka asked all property owners to apply for Urban Property Ownership Record (UPOR). This was to be the actual proof of ownership of your property. Property owners of that time, including me, ran about with the survey and revenue officials to get it.

But now, I notice that this finds no mention in the list of documents needed to be submitted. This could have saved many UPOR document holders to comply with a long list of documents to get an e-khata.

It seems that both Offices of the Government are not synchronised in their approach to identify genuine property owners.

With this approach of the MCC, it seems like an endless round of applications and running around in Government Offices by citizens to comply with one more requirement of owners to prove the genuineness of their ownership.

Will the Government officials concerned seek to clarify why there is so much paperwork for the hapless citizens of Mysuru, when this exercise was already done to get the UPORs? Are we going around in circles, in other words, for ‘re-inventing the wheel’?

I request our people’s representatives (Corporators/MLAs) to look into this issue and give a clarification why the Revenue and Corporation Offices don’t work ‘hand-in-hand’?
