November 9, 2017

Mysuru:  V.N. Prasad and troupe will be presenting a Musical Bonanza of Bollywood hits from the 1950s to 1990s, at the Platinum Jubilee Hall, MMC&RI, J.K. Grounds, as part of the fund-raising programme of the Lions Club of Mysore West. Programme commences at 5.30 pm. Prasad, soon to be 66 years of age, is being accompanied by youngsters Ashwin, Shabbir, Shreya, Jayanthi, Hamsini, Rakshitha and Ankita.

Prasad’s crusade continues to find new young singing talents in the city and project them on large platforms; enabling them to gain prominence. It may be recalled that 21-year-old Shabbir was projected on Apr.2, 2017, at ‘Adaab Rafi – 2’; where legendary Mohammed Rafi’s daughter and son-in-law, Nasreen and Miraj Ahamad, were the guests of honour at the programme organised at the same venue.

Later, Shabbir was invited to sing at Mumbai on the 28th July in commemoration of Rafi’s 37th death anniversary. Recently at a cultural activities bonanza of the JSS Educational Institutes namely, Medical, Dental, Pharma, Engineering, Law and Commerce, Prasad was invited to be the principal judge of singing competition of the students where he identified young emerging talents in Rakshita and Ankita. They are being projected at the programme on Nov.11.

Young Ashwin, Shreya and Hamsini have already won the hearts of Mysureans. Jayanthi is a playback singer having cut a few albums — has a silken voice texture. She is an officer in the SBI.

The ensemble includes melodious hits of the films like Howrah Bridge, Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon, Umrao Jaan, Parasmani, Suraj, Andhi, Aap Ki Kasam, Kalakar, Dil To Pagal Hai, Ashiqui, DDLJ, 1942: A Love Story, etc.

Jayaram & associates will render live music. Popular Mysurean Saxophonist Harry will add to the charm. Syed Aftab Ahamed will compere the event.
