Earlier rowdies would run when they saw Police…: Now, Police flee when they see rowdies, says R. Ashoka

Bengaluru: “Earlier, rowdies used to run when they see Police approaching but now it is the other way round where the Police are taking shelter from anti-social elements and rowdy-sheeters.” These were the words of former Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister R. Ashoka.

Addressing a press meet here yesterday, the BJP leader said that law and order in the State has collapsed. “Imagine a situation where a rowdy enters the house of an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and snatches the gold chain of his wife in front of his eyes. This is a classic example of the prevailing law and order situation in Karnataka. If an ACP has no protection, then what about the common man,” he questioned. How the Government can guarantee protection to the common man when its own high-ranking officers are openly threatened by rowdies, he asked.

Bengaluru was once called the IT city because of hundreds of IT companies setting up base here. “Now, thanks to the Congress Government, it has become a  ‘crime city’ where women are frequently raped, children are kidnapped and anti-social elements rule the roost along with real estate mafia,” he said.

Training guns on the Police, Ashoka wondered that if Bengaluru city is run by the Police or rowdies. “Real estate mafia has become so powerful that ordinary residents and landowners are being victimised. These local rowdies have the blessings of Congress MLAs and Ministers as they are desperately trying to mobilise money to fight the 2018 Assembly elections,” he alleged.
