Eco Club, sponsored by Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) was inaugurated at District Institute of Education & Training (DIET), Vasanth Mahal, which was inaugurated by Principal Basavegowda in city recently.
Addressing the Club members Basavegowda said that everyone must realise their responsibility to pass on a pollution-free environment to the next generation and also briefed on the importance of renewable energy and energy conservation.
D.K. Dinesh Kumar, Project Engineer of KREDL explained about the progress of renewable energy in the country and Karnataka and explained about various subsidy schemes offered by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) for people to install roof top grid connected system, NABARD scheme for rural domestic solar home light systems and solar water pumping systems.
Quiz and drawing competition was conducted and solar lanterns were distributed to the winners as prizes besides distributing certificates to all participants.

Quiz: H.M. Prathima- First, Veeranna Karadi- Second and Anil Kumar- Third. Consolation prizes were given to A .Shanthappa, M. Krishna , N. Manmatha, K.B. Kathyayini and N.Dwarak.
Drawing: K. Sangeetha- First, Nagalingappa R. Badigar- Second and Azmathunnisa- Third. Consolation Prizes were won by H.S. Shivakumar , M.K. Latha, M.K. Muthappa, Lucy George and H.M. Prathima.
