Mysuru: Excise Deputy Commissioner, Bengaluru Urban, Smitha Rao has said, the reading of editorials and columns, published in the newspapers come in handy go gain knowledge to prepare well for the competitive exams.

Addressing the participants at the fifth Mock Test organised for the candidates appearing for recruitment of Civil Constables, Karnataka State Police, at the premises of City Central Library, People’s Park in the city recently, Rao lauded the activities of Library Department, for the gathering of job aspirants in large numbers.

“It deserves appreciation for a good number of women evincing interest in recruitment for the Police. In the present days, there has been spurt in crime rate, to crack which, it requires not just physical fitness, but also the mental capability. Especially, women should enhance their confidence level to successfully balance both their personal and professional lives,” said Rao.

Deputy Director of City Central Library B. Manjunath said, there has been a good response for the Mock Test being conducted by the Library Department, with hundreds of job aspirants appearing for the test. There has been a demand to conduct Mock Test at branch libraries too, for which the Department is ever ready.

‘Tackling drugs, a big challenge for Excise Department too’

Excise Deputy Commissioner, Bengaluru Urban, Smitha Rao said, with the increase in consumption of narcotics drugs and substance abuse among youngsters, it has evolved as bigger challenge not just for the Police, but also for Excise Department in reining in the menace. While Excise Department is taking action effectively, the young men and women can be successful in their lives, only if they adopt a better lifestyle, without falling prey to drugs.
