Educated are forgetting those who fought for the cause of State: MUDA Chairman

Mysore/Mysuru: Regretting that people who are highly educated tend to forget those who strived for the cause of Kannada land, language and literature, MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev said that this makes one feel that experience is more important than education.

He was speaking after inaugurating Kannada Rajyotsava, Rajarshi Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Jayanti and Sir M. Visvesvaraya Jayanti organised by Sir M. Vishweshwaraiah Plumbing and Sanitary Labour’s Welfare Union, Mysuru, at Veene Seshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar here yesterday.

Recalling the yeoman services rendered by Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar and Sir M. Visvesvaraya, Rajeev said that the Association is celebrating Kannada Rajyotsava as a mark of respect for Kannada language.

He also complimented the Association for celebrating the Jayantis of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar and Sir M. Visvesvaraya, who were instrumental in the irrigation of lakhs of acres of agricultural lands by constructing KRS Dam. He also lauded the Union for presenting ‘Pratibha Puraskar’ for meritorious children of its members.

Writer Bannur K. Raju, in his address, said that soldiers who guard our country’s borders, farmers who provide food and workers who keep the country going, are the country’s  foremost population.

Highlighting the importance of plumbers and sanitary labours  in our daily life, he said that the society should give them their due. The Government should also come to their aid, he added.

Meritorious children of the Association members were presented with Ptatibha Puraskar. A free eye check-up camp was also held to mark the occasion.

Corporator M.C. Ramesh, BJP leader Jogi Manju, Association President S. Mahesh and other office-bearers were present during the occasion.
