Rain relief work: BJP, Congress leaders in verbal spat

September 27, 2017

Mysuru: With last night’s heavy rains having brought untold misery to thousands of people living in low-lying areas of the city, especially in Kanakagiri, Congress and BJP leaders sparred over the relief work this morning.

Even as the people of Kanakagiri were facing a lot of hardship because of last night’s heavy rains, K.R. Constituency MLA M.K. Somashekar and BJP leader H.V. Rajeev entered into heated arguments over coming to rescue of the rain-affected people.

With Kanakagiri area virtually turning into a lake, MLA Somashekar visited the spot early this morning to hear the grievances of people and he was reportedly upset over the presence of BJP leader H.V. Rajeev at the spot.

Somashekar asked Rajeev what the BJP had done in the past few years when it was in power. He also questioned Rajeev whether he was now here to do politics. Angered by the MLA’s remark, Rajeev hit back saying, “First tell me what you have done to the area. Now do the necessary works.”

Even as the two questioned each other, a verbal spat broke out between the two leaders with both of them using abusive languages against each other, it is learnt.
