Eid Milad celebrated in city

Mysuru: Eid Milad commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad was celebrated by Muslim brethren in city this morning.

The day marked with the rich offering food to the poor and sweets were distributed. Many mosques and roads in Mandi Mohalla were illuminated. However there was no mass prayer as many offered prayers at house.

Marking the occasion, students of Tanveer-ul-Islam Urdu Higher Primary School and Madrasa took out a procession through Sawday Road reciting prayers.

Tipu Jayanti

In the context of imposition of prohibitory orders under Section 144, Tipu Jayanti could not be celebrated at Meelad Park where tight security by Police was in place.

However the celebration committee members offered prayers at Tipu Garadi in Mandi Mohalla and later proceeded to Srirangapatna to offer floral tributes at Tipu tomb there.
