Eight persons arrested for eve-teasing, disturbing peace at public place

Mysuru:  In separate incidents, K.R. Police and Vidyaranyapuram Police have arrested a total of eight persons on charges of eve-teasing, attempting to assault public and disturbing peace at public place.

In the first incident, K.R. Police have arrested four persons for allegedly disturbing peace at public place.

On Thursday at about 8 pm, two groups clashed at Nanjumalige and began to assault each other with tennis rackets and empty bottles causing panic among the public and also disturbing peace at public place.

K.R. Police, who rushed to the spot, arrested four among the group of 10 persons and are on the lookout for others who fled from the spot.

In the second incident, Vidyaranyapuram Police have taken into custody four persons on charges of eve-teasing, harassing a girl by waylaying her on the road and also attempting to assault those who came to the girl’s rescue.

The accused, who came in an autorickshaw, allegedly waylaid the girl, began to tease her and harassed her by pulling her hand. Shocked over their behaviour, the girl is said to have fled                              from the spot.

Meanwhile, some members of the public, who saw the accused harassing the girl, went to her rescue resulting in the accused trying to assault them. Fed up with their (accused) behaviour, the members of the public complained to Vidyaranyapuram Police.

Inspector Ravishankar, who registered a case based on the complaint, rushed to the spot and took the four accused into custody.
