Mysuru:NCC Group Mysuru conducted a National-level NCC camp called ‘Ek Bharat Shrest Bharat’ (EBSB) at Karnataka State Open University campus from Nov.5 to 16. About 500 boy and girl cadets from all over Karnataka and Goa attended the 12-day camp besides 100 cadets from Punjab.
The aim of the camp was to imbue the cadets, from diverse cultural backgrounds, with the spirit of National Integration and foster bonds of friendship and understanding. The cadets from outside the State were made to learn the rudiments of the local language, cuisine, attire and culture. Cadets learnt songs in others’ language.
Selected cadets were put through a one-day workshop on ‘Understanding India’ by Swami Vivekanada Youth Movement (SVYM), Mysuru. Life skill training was imparted by EXPA, an association of Ex-NCC cadets.
Cadets were given a glimpse of ‘Kamsale’ by Kartik Upamanyu and his cultural team called ‘Neralu’. The cadets from outside the State were spellbound by the performance. They were taken around many places of educational value around Mysuru like Infosys, Srirangapatna, Brindavan Gardens, Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hill, Bombe Mane, Kukkarahalli Lake etc. Guest lectures on Service Selection procedure, Fire Fighting were delivered apart from competitions in Group Dance, Group Song, Debate, Quiz, Volley Ball and Throw Ball were held.
At the valedictory function or ‘Barakhana’ Dr. Vidyashankar, Vice-Chancellor, KSOU was the chief guest. He gave away prizes to winners of various competitions after a brief cultural programme.
He commended the efforts of the NCC Officers and advised the cadets to be become responsible citizens of the country, according to a press release from Col. K. C. Iyappa [Mob:9471215343].
