Mysuru: Mysuru APMC President K. Prabhuswamy was elected as a Member of the State Agricultural Marketing Board in a keenly fought contest here on Monday.
Congress-supported candidate Prabhuswamy defeated his arch-rival Venkatesh, a JD(S)-supported candidate by a single vote in the election held at Karnataka Institute for Agricultural Marketing, Hunsur Road.
While Prabhuswamy got four votes, Venkatesh, who is T. Narasipur APMC President, secured three votes. The poll had an electoral strength of seven members and Congress-supported candidate ensured that he got the support of four of them, while his opponent Venkatesh succeeded in bagging three votes.
Agricultural Marketing Department Deputy Director H.C. Ravi was the Returning Officer.
