Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru’s senior theatre artiste, actor, organiser and director Rajashekar Kadamba has been elected as the President of Karnataka Rangabhoomi Organisers Conference to be hosted by Karnataka Ranga Parishat in association with Kannada and Culture Department, on May 25 at Nayana Rangamandira in Bengaluru.
Actively involved in theatre for the past six decades, he has established the Kadamba Rangavedike and brought several plays, including Durgastamana, to the stage. He has participated in many plays as an actor and director besides conducting drama festivals, seminars and Rangothsava programmes every year. He has even acted in 50 films.
A native of Gottagere near Bannerghatta in Bengaluru, Kadamba found his calling in Mysuru, where he built his life. Even at the age of 82, he remains active.
A recipient of Natak Academy Award, Suvarna Karnataka Ranga Award and K.V. Shankar Gowda State Theatre Award, Karnataka Government honoured him with Rajyotsava Award in 2004 in recognition of his talent.
