Mysuru: Bank Puttaswamy was elected as President and R. Nagaraj as Vice-President of The City Co-operative Bank, Sri Harsha road in city, at the elections held on Wednesday.
Both Puttaswamy and Nagaraj won by one vote in a close contest. Puttaswamy, who secured 7 votes, defeated Padma M.S. Nagaraj who bagged 6 votes, while R. Nagaraj, who also secured 7 votes, defeated K. Somu, by one vote.
Speaking to Star of Mysore after emerging victorious, Bank Puttaswamy said the City Co-operative Bank has a 107-year history, lending loans to the economically weaker sections of the society.
Pointing out that the Bank, which had been under loss for the past several years, has now seen a turn around with the Bank recording a profit, he said that he has called upon all the 13 Bank Directors to work collectively for recovery of loans.
