Elephant camp supervisor killed as unidentified vehicle hits

Hanagod: A supervisor (Jamedar) at Anechowkur Elephant Camp was killed on the spot, when a speeding unidentified vehicle reportedly rammed into him and sped away at Anechowkur Zone  last night.

The deceased is Thimma (50). Yesterday at about 8 pm, Thimma, along with Kavadi Manju, were on their way to Shettahalli Tribal Hamlet on a bike when they saw Gopalaswamy, a tamed elephant standing on the road in Anechowkur Zone.

Thimma and Manju got down from the bike to chase  Gopalaswamy to the forest and when Thimma was crossing the road to chase the elephant, a speeding unidentified vehicle rammed into him and      sped away, killing Thimma on the spot.

A case has been registered at Gonikoppa Police Station.

The body of Thimma was shifted to Virajpet General Hospital, where the post-mortem would be conducted today and the body will be handed over to the family members later.
