‘Emotional Intelligence for Effective Leadership’ topic discussed at SDMIMD

Mysuru: Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) had organised Management Development Programme (MDP) on ‘Emotional Intelligence for Effective Leadership’ at its premises here on June 7.

Emotional intelligence has gained momentum over the years in managing emotions intelligently and to dealing with people issues at the workplace.

Especially, in the context of leadership effectiveness, this concept has proved to be imperative, in today’s business.

This programme was aimed to facilitate the participants to appraise and appreciate the issues and concerns a leader encounters in organisational situations, while dealing with people, both individually and in teams.

Through experiential learning and simulations, the programme deliberated the various ways of leading in organisations, with the help of Emotional Intelligence, as an effective tool. Topics, such as, leadership styles, leading teams, managing conflict, and emotion management,  were discussed. 

Dr. H. Gayathri, Deputy Director, SDMIMD, inaugurated the programme. Dr. Nilanjan Sengupta, and Dr. Mousumi Sengupta, both Professors in OB (Organisational Behaviour) and HR (Human Resources) from SDMIMD, were the resource persons. Dr. M.V. Sunil coordinator of the programme and faculty members were present, according to a press release from the Institute.
