Nruthyathi Kalaashaale, Mysuru, along with Ushaveni and Purushothama, presented the Bharatanatya Rangavidhipraveshika of Nithyashree, disciple of Guru Anusha Varun, at RamaGovinda Rangamandira in city recently. The programme witnessed an enthusiastic gathering of rasikas, artistes, scholars and well-wishers, who appreciated the dancer’s graceful and accomplished performance.

The evening was blessed by eminent gurus and dignitaries including Gayana Gandharva Dr. R.S. Nandakumar, Natyacharya Vidwan R. Kannan, Guru Sandesh Bhargav, Dr. Kripa Phadke and Dr. B. Sadashive Gowda.

The dignitaries commended Nithyashree’s technical excellence, expressive abhinaya and unwavering dedication to Bharatanatyam.

The recital commenced with Melaprapthi with Subramanya and Guru Shloka (Ragamalika – Khanda Chapu Tala), creating an auspicious beginning to the evening. This was followed by Ganapathi Kruthi – ‘Pranavakaram’ (Arabhi – Adi Tala) and Nataraja Kruthi – ‘Kandena Natarajana’ (Lathangi – Adi Tala), where Nithyashree displayed impressive nritta precision, rhythmic confidence and graceful stage presence.

Her striking postures and depiction of Lord Nataraja were particularly applauded by the audience.

A major highlight of the recital was the Padavarna – ‘Mahatripura Sundari’ (Shivaranjani – Adi Tala), in which she seamlessly balanced intricate footwork with expressive abhinaya. The captivating Mahishasura Mardhini and Shankaracharya sancharis were presented with remarkable depth and clarity, leaving the audience deeply impressed and earning resounding appreciation.

The programme continued with the soulful Padam – ‘Kalyana Rama’ (Hamsanada – Adi Tala), the evocative Kannada composition ‘Muralidhare’ (Khamach – Mishra Chapu Tala) and ‘Tamboori Meetidava’ (Sindhu Bhairavi – Trishra Nadai Adi Tala). The recital concluded with a vibrant Thillana (Kadanakuthoohala – Adi Tala), bringing the evening to a joyous and energetic finale that received prolonged applause from the audience.

The performance was enriched by the accomplished musical ensemble comprising Guru Anusha Varun’s precise and dynamic Nattuvanga provided the rhythmic foundation for the performance.

Vidwan M.R. Shree Harsha’s melodious and expressive vocal rendition beautifully complemented every nuance of the dance. Vidwan H.L. Shivashankar Swamy’s sensitive mridanga accompaniment lent strength and vitality to the recital, while Vidwan Samrudh Srinivas enriched the presentation with his soulful flute melodies. Vidwan Prashanth Rudrapatna’s graceful veena playing added depth and serenity, and Vidwan H.L. Anantha Krishna Swamy’s rhythmic support on the rhythm pad enhanced the overall musical experience. Together, the team of distinguished accompanists seamlessly complemented the dancer, elevating the recital into a memorable artistic experience.
