Entries invited for Road Race contest

Mysore/Mysuru: The Alumni Association of Sportspersons Represented University of Mysore, marking the National Sports Day celebrations and in memory of National Kho-Kho player M. Vijay Kumar, has organised a Road Race contest for boys and girls aged between 12 and 16 years on Aug. 29, said Association President Dr. C. Krishna.

Addressing a press meet at Patrakartara Bhavan here on Monday, he said that the race will be flagged off at 7 am in front of Lions Club of Mysore, near Oval Grounds (close to Deputy Commissioner’s Office).

National Kho-Kho player M. Vijay Kumar had served as the Treasurer of the Association till 2020, he added.

There will be no entry fee to compete in the contest. Running race contest will be held separately for boys and girls. For boys it will be 3-km race while for girls it will be 2-km. Six prizes will be given for both the categories — Cash prize of Rs. 6,000, Rs. 5,000, Rs. 4,000, Rs. 3,000, Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 1,000.

Interested runners may register their names at the Performs Sports Wear on Kanthraj Urs Road in K.G. Koppal in city between 11 am and 7 pm from Aug. 23 to 26. Only 300 boys and 200 girls will be allowed to compete in the contest. Cycle Pure Agarbathi sponsored T-shirt will be distributed to all the contestants.

MLA Darshan Puttannaiah will flag off the race while MLA H.M. Ganesh Prasad will distribute prizes to the winners. Wife of late M. Vijay Kumar S.
