The essay writing and cartoon competitions for school students, organised by the Samaritans of Mandya and the Syro Malabar Youth Movement with the slogan “Say No To Drugs” will be held on Sunday (Nov. 16) at the Infant Jesus Cathedral, Hinkal,
Msgr. Thomas Thennattil Augusthy, Vicar General, Diocese of Mandya, will inaugurate the competition at 10.30 am. Fr. Jomon Kolenchery CMI, Chancellor, Diocese of Mandya, will be the chief guest. Fr. Amal Edathil CMI, Asst. Parish Priest will preside.
The competition will be held in three different categories — Standard 11 and 12 (Topic – Making Healthy Choices to Stay Drug Free), Standard 8-10 (Friendship – a Barrier against Drugs) and Standard 5-7 (Chasing Dreams, Not Drugs).
Winners of each category will be awarded cash prizes, trophies and merit certificates. There will be five consolation prizes each in each category. Prizes will be distributed by Rt. Rev. Dr. Thomas Antony Vazhappilly, the Bishop Emeritus, Diocese of Mysore during the valedictory function to be held on the same day at the Infant Jesus Cathedral premises.
