Ex-MP opposes merger of Yeshasvini  Health Scheme

February 21, 2017

Asserting that Yeshasvini  Health Scheme, which was introduced in the State when S.M. Krishna was the Chief Minister, is one of the best health schemes not only in the country but across the globe, former MP A.H. Vishwanath has opposed the reported move to merge the health scheme with Vajpayee Arogyashree Yojana.

Addressing the press meet at Pathrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, Vishwanath said he would attend a meeting convened by the Chief Secretary in this regard at Bengaluru (today) where he will persuade the government not to give nod for the merger of Yeshasvini under Vajpayee Arogyashree Yojana.

Claiming that Vajpayee Arogyashree Yojana had failed miserably, the former MP said many scholars from across the world including faculty of the prestigious Harvard University have hailed Yeshasvini as a landmark health scheme which hugely benefited the poor.

Stating that he had written to the CM and as well as the Health Minister opposing the move, he reiterated that the Government should nip any effort that is going on for the merger.

Replying to a question on reports that KPCC would issue him a notice for his remarks that have hurt the party, Vishwanath said that he learnt about the so-called notice only from the media.

He further said that he would reply after holding a meeting with party workers and leaders, if at all he was served with a notice.
