An excellent simulation of Kurukshetra through Yakshagana

Mysuru: Dakshina Kannada Zilla Sangha and Chande Mela Kala Sangha, Mysuru, had jointly organised  Kurukshetra Mahatme Yakshagana at P. Kalinga Rao Gana Mantapa at the premises of Dasara Exhibition grounds here last evening.

Members of Puttur Sri Mahalingeshwara Pravasi Yakshagana Kala Vrinda enacted the episodes of Abhimanyu Kalaga and Raktharathri. The episodes featuring the predicament of Kaurvas in not being able to defeat Pandavas, entry of Dronacharya, formation of Chakravyuha and the roles of Abhimanyu and Karna were excellently portrayed by the artistes simulating a mythological ambience well supported by the background music.

Inaugurating the programme, Mayor M.J. Ravikumar sought more patronage for Yakshagana which otherwise would go extinct.

The Yakshagana was enacted by artistes  Dr. Sridhar Bhandari, Jagannath Shetty Perle, Diwakar Rai Sampaje, Chandrashekar Dharmasthala, Prajwal Kumar, Sadashiva Acharya Venur, Mohan Bellipadi, Vamana Kumar, Rakshit Shetty Padre, Sathish Neerkere, B. Rajesh and ably supported by Shivaprasad Bhat, Jayaramacharya Bantwal, Harish Shetty Mannappa, Balakrishna Maniyani, Deekaya Somashekar Thoder, B. Shekar, Lavakumar Bale, Chandrashekar Sharapadi, Anand Padre, Padyanna Ganapathy Bhat, Ramesh Bhat Puttur and others.

Chairman of Karnataka Exhibition Authority B. Siddaraju, Sangha  President V. Sreenivasa Rao and others were present.
