Excels in Masters Badminton Championships

Mysuru: Maleyanda Arun Poovaiah, a player of International repute, came out with stupendous performance at two different Pan India Masters Badminton Championships held at Chennai and Mangaluru respectively .

In the Tournament conducted by Tambaram District Badminton Association at Chennai, Arun stole the show by winning Triple Crown (Singles/ Doubles and Mixed Doubles).

In the Mangaluru Tournament, Arun won the Singles Trophy. He received the trophy from his younger brother Ashok Poovaiah, ex-international player, who was the guest of honour.

Arun is presently preparing himself to participate in the World Master’s Badminton Championships representing India to be held at Pattaya, Thailand, during September this year.

Arun had earlier won silver and bronze medals at World Masters Badminton Championships held at Malaysia and Bulgaria. A native of Nelji, Napoklu in Kodagu, Arun is presently based in Bengaluru and is involved in coaching  budding Badminton players.
