Exhibition of philately, coins and currency notes

Mysore/Mysuru: A rare collection of coins, currency notes and stamps were displayed in an exhibition held at Vanitha Sadana High School in Krishnamurthypuram here on Friday.    

Industrialist N.S. Dwarakanath inaugurated the event. While addressing the gathering, he said: “It’s been 30 years that I’m collecting coins, currency notes and stamps of ancient times. I want people to know about these collections, so exhibition is organised in order to educate people,” he added. 

He showcased folk coins, Olympic coins, currencies of ancient times at the expo. Also on display were rare coins of America, Thailand, Japan, London, South Africa, Cambodia, New Zealand and Zimbabwe — a collection of Rtn. Sunil Baliga of Rotary Ivory City Mysuru and Paramveer Chakra, Ashoka Chakra and Victoria Cross medals — 50-year-old collection of amateur Philatelist Jayadeva Yarasi.

Rotary Ivory City President Rtn. Iftekhar Ahmed presided over the event.
