Eye-catching sarees at Cottonfab

Mysuru: The number of exhibitions in city even after the holiday season is on the rise. With double income families and people with deep pockets, the more the merrier seems to be the motto as they throng such exhibitions.

The one that is drawing good crowds is the Cottonfab-2017 exhibition at Scouts and Guides Grounds opposite to the Deputy Commissioner’s office. This expo, which began on Oct. 27 and is on till Nov. 13 from 10 am to 9 pm, is organised by Awadh Hatkargha Hastshilp Gramodyog Samiti, registered with the Ministry of Textiles.

The expo features some of the most exquisite, hand spun traditional cotton and silk fabric from across the country, including Karnataka’s border saree, Lucknow and Orissa’s Ikkat sarees, dress materials, duppatta, Rajasthani block print, Varnasi’s kalamkari, Benares silk, Kolkata silk, Patola silk, Kathan silk, Jammu and Kashmir Handloom, Madhya Pradesh Safi silk, Telengana Handloom, and Bihar’s Lucknow Chikan sarees.

There are nearly 150 stalls also displaying pure cotton clothes for children and men. Apart from sarees, there are varieties of matching leather bags, jute bags, purses, vanity bags, handkerchiefs, embroidered bags and eye-catching Rajasthani dresses. There are decorative items for the houses at affordable rates. The exhibition,  being held after two years, offers 20 per cent discount.
