Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths of Bengaluru have busted an Inter-State fake marks card racket and have arrested five persons including a woman allegedly involved in the crime.

The accused have been identified as Kunal Kumar Mandal, 28, of  ‘Joinus For Education’ institution in Bengaluru; Deepankar Sen of Bengaluru, Saurab Kumar Sharma alias Gaurav Kumar of RPS School, Narangpur in Ghaziabad, Uttara Pradesh; Sandesh Agarwal of Double Eight Consultancy at Pitampur, New Delhi and Aruna of Fortune Institute, Bengaluru.

The Police have seized over 800 fake marks cards, degree certificates, provisional certificates and other fake academic certificates of over 40 Universities across the country, including Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) of Mysuru and computers, printers, rubber stamps and other instruments used in making of fake certificates.

The CCB sleuths, acting on a tip off, took the prime suspect Kunal Kumar Mandal into custody and interrogated him, during which he spilled the beans on the involvement of many others in the fake marks card racket.

Police, based on the clues provided by Kunal, arrested four others.

The accused are said to have sold fake marks cards, degree certificates and other certificates since the past two years, with the help of agents for a huge sum.
